The secret behind the extreme deliciousness of this shortbread is that all the clotted cream and butter comes from Trewithen Dairy, a family-run farm only a few miles down the road from the Furniss bakery. Both cream and butter are rich, pure and have a fresh, naturally sweet taste.
At Furniss, they've been crafting quality biscuits using perfected recipes since 1886.
Their story starts in Cornwall where master baker, John Cooper Furniss opened his first teashop in the centre of Truro. Every night, he would work into the small hours, preparing delicious gingerbread and celebrated Fairings ready to serve fresh the next day.
I’m told it was delicious as the shortbread was a gift along with a couple of other things.
