About Saffron Cake

The storied tradition of the Saffron Cake can be traced to the time when the Phoenicians traded spices for Cornish tin. Renowned for its rich hue and distinctive taste, the precious saffron spice, derived from crocus flower stigmas, was used to infuse bread and cakes with an exotic touch.

  • Out of area Deliveries:  Areas where this may apply include:

    Scotland including the Highlands and Islands, Isle of Skye, Isle of Mull, and other Hebridean Islands, Orkney and Shetland Islands,

    Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Scilly Isles, Channel Islands

    For out of area we always recommend choosing the day before your desired delivery date at checkout, this should ensure that your order is delivered either the day before or on the day of your special event

  • Delivery Availability: Choose your preferred delivery date at checkout, with delivery available Tuesday to Saturday up to 3 months in advance.

  • Delivery Options: Standard delivery will be delivered between 7am to 9pm or there is an option for a delivery before 12pm for an additional charge. 

    Please Note: All deliveries are made on a "leave safe" service, meaning if your intended recipient is not in, your parcel will be left safe and a picture provided for your reference.

  • Which Courier Do We Use? - We use between DPD, InPost, & Royal Mail for deliveries, based on the recipient's location.

  • Perishable Goods: Some hampers contain perishable items. Please ensure they are refrigerated upon arrival.

  • Shelf Life: Scones & Pasties last for 5 days; clotted cream for 5-7 days. For specific best before dates, check product packaging.

Choosing Your Delivery Date:

  • Availability: Select your preferred date on the checkout page up to 3 months in advance, with deliveries available from Tuesday to Saturday.

  • Exclusions: Delivery is not available on Sundays, Mondays or the day immediately following a Bank Holiday

  • AM Delivery: Morning delivery options are also available.

Best cornish pasty ever

These pasties are the best in the world and bring back memories of holidays in Cornwall when I was young. They travel well in the post and taste as fresh as just leaving the oven. I will and have bought more with cheese and onion being my favourite.

Whilst reminiscing with a cousin about old family recipes we both fancied trying Cornish saffron cake and ordered ourselves a treat. My husband and I really enjoyed the lovely cakes we had, flavour was good, arrived on the day chosen and well packaged so arrived really fresh.Top marks to The Cornish Company,your service is wonderful and we highly recommend you.

OK but...

I Haven't had Saffron cake before so I was looking forward to it being part of a hamper I ordered for myself and my husband. Unfortunately neither of us could say we liked it or enjoyed it, but neither did we not like it. It was pretty plain, dry and didn't have much taste at all. We certainly wouldn't buy it again.

Needs a little more spice

Saffron cake is more like a fruit loaf apart from being slightly yellow due to the saffron. It was very nice with butter and jam but I was expecting it to be a bit more spicy. I would eat it again though.
